Often called a ‘French stick’ in the UK, this is close to the original meaning of ‘baguette’, which is a rod, wand or stick, hence ‘baguettes de tambour’ – drum sticks, or ‘baguette de fée’ – a fairy wand. We believe all bread should be made the natural way. Our baguettes are made using old fashioned methods, tested and proven by five generations of our family. There is no secret behind the exceptional quality of our bread, just excellent ingredients, time-honoured techniques and plenty of patience. The result is an appetizing, authentic baguette with excellent texture and taste.
Although its components and construction are exceedingly simple, the humble baguette can come out of our ovens in many forms. Our bakeries produce these slender loaves sprinkled with sesame seeds or bursting with grains, as well as the plain baguette with its crisp golden crust and airy centre.
We bake baguettes that are perfect for any occasion. Tear off hefty chunks and dab them into a pool of olive oil and balsamic vinegar or use them to mop up home made soup. Make sandwiches with them, eat them with cheese, meats or salads. Spread liberally with butter and jam. However you choose to enjoy our baguettes, we wish you bon appetit!
