Our recent opening, PAUL Bakery & Café in Putney High Street can be found on the left hand side as you go up the hill, a short stroll from Putney rail station, Putney Exchange, Putney School of Art and Design, Putney Library and the High Street’s numerous shops. With around 14 COVID-safe seats inside, our bakery is the perfect pit-stop for enjoying classic French breakfast pastries, lunchtime salads and sandwiches, barista-made coffees and teas, cold drinks and indulgent pâtisseries to eat in or take away.  Order celebration cakes to Click & Collect from the store, and of course, buy your essential freshly baked hand made PAUL bread.   Continuing up the hill, on the right hand side is the 400 acre Putney Heath, notorious in the 18th century for dueling, and as a meeting place for highwaymen.  Walk down the hill and you arrive at the Thames and Putney Bridge, the starting point of the University Boat Race since 1845.  There are more than twenty rowing clubs in Putney.  Designed by by Sir Joseph Bazalgette, who also designed Hammersmith Bridge as well as London’s central sewer network, Putney Bridge opened in 1886.  It replaced the 18th century wooden bridge that in turn replaced the ferry that had been an important river crossing since medieval times.  The railway arrived in Putney in 1846, as a stop between Waterloo and Richmond, and the District Line reached the Fulham side of the river in 1880.  Closest station to PAUL is Putney Station, served by South Western Railway.  Also nearby is East Putney Underground Station on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line.  There is a River Bus stop at Putney Pier, close to the bridge on Putney Embankment.

14 seats available inside.  No outdoor seating.  Disabled access available.  Free wi-fi.
