Temporary PAUL Bakery Closures

To our loyal customers,

Since my last update to you on Thursday, we have been monitoring the ever-changing situation and paying close attention to Government updates.

Following yesterday’s Government announcement urging people to stay at home and for further premises to be closed, we have temporarily closed the doors of all of our stores as of today. Bakers for centuries have produced bread for people, and for 130 years PAUL has been following that tradition. It’s this heritage that has made the decision that we took last night to temporarily close all our UK stores today such a difficult decision. However, our number one priority is the safety of our teams and customers, and we believe this is the best thing to do to help support social distancing.

Yesterday, we opened ‘The Bread Market’ at our central bakery in Acton, West London, and this will remain open daily, to provide fresh bread for the local community during the current crisis and help alleviate the mounting pressure on supermarkets. We have taken steps to ensure queues don’t congregate marking out lines to denote the acceptable 2 metres social distancing.

We are continuing to donate any unsold food to London based charity, The Felix Project, to help feed those who need it most.

I’d like to personally thank all of our fantastic colleagues, customers and communities for their continued support. We can’t wait to welcome you all back soon.

Stay safe,

Mark Hilton, CEO of PAUL UK
