5 Great Reasons to Celebrate with Cake in the Office
The reasons (not excuses) to have cake at work
We spend more time with our co-workers than we do with our families! It’s only natural that we want to celebrate milestones and achievements with them. What’s more, it does everyone good to get away from the computer screen for a bit and have some fun. It’s simple to have a delicious celebration cake delivered in London. Just in case you need an excuse, here are some of our favourite reasons for a celebration cake delivery to the office.
It’s a birthday!
No birthday celebration is complete without cake. And candles. We leave it up to you to decide whether you decorate the celebrant’s desk, tie balloons to their chair or embarrass them by singing Happy Birthday awkwardly around the meeting room table. Our top tips? If you can, keep it small and spontaneous. Order a cake you can personalise – that’s much nicer than a generic supermarket ‘happy birthday’ cake. Many of the best celebration cakes in London don’t cost a fortune. If you have lots of employees, try having a monthly celebration for everyone who has a birthday that month and either order a great big cake or several different ones so there’s plenty to choose from.
It’s a baby!
Only a baby-themed cake will do for this, whether you’re planning a baby shower or the toasting of a new arrival. Our top tips? Pastel colours are both pretty and traditional. Again, a cake that can be personalised is more thoughtful. Make sure the expectant or new mother has something non-alcoholic to drink that still feels festive. If you’re going to give gifts, find out what would be really welcome.
It’s a Company Anniversary!
Whether you’ve been in business for a year or 130 years (like us!), it’s always good to mark important milestones. It’s also a great reason to show your appreciation to the people who work for you. Our top tips? Make it a Thank You cake customised with your own message. There are some excellent vegan and gluten free cakes available. Thank people personally for specific projects they’ve done that have really made a difference during the year.
New deal? New treat!
Winning new business is hard work. Taking time to relax, thank the team and celebrate the achievement is important. Our top tips? Going out for a meal or for a drink are great, but a celebration in the office means no one feels left out. Celebration cakes don’t have to be large. Try having a Mini Cake Bar with mini doughnuts and mini macarons. Day-time celebration? Accompany with a hot chocolate and coffee bar. Evening celebration? Bring on the celebratory bubbly or get the team to create an appropriate cocktail for the occasion.
Have a Weekly Coffee and Cake Date
These are uncertain and sometimes very stressful times. No wonder trending terms such as wellness, mindfulness and spiritual wellbeing are much to the fore. On the other hand, is there really any substitute for cake?! We French have an expression ‘Métro – boulot – dodo’, the daily grind that leaves room for nothing but commuting, working and sleeping. So why not take an hour a week for a coffee and cake date with your team? It isn’t always about celebrations. Sometimes the little things are the big things: switching off the mobiles, sitting down together, having a chat, exchanging news, enjoying a treat. Our top tips? Keep it informal. Let the weekly coffee date participants take it in turns to order their favourite cake for delivery. Make sure you stick to your weekly date and don’t let other things get in the way. There’s not much that can’t wait for an hour, and nothing that isn’t made better by cake!
